Antiqued lamp posts to beautify Kandy

The City Beautifying Committee of the Kandy Municipal Council has
planned to install antiqued lamp posts in the streets of Kandy to
highlight the historical value of the ancient city, prior to the
commencement of the perahera season of the Sri Dalada Maligawa.
This comes as the first phase of the project to display the
historical value of the town and the installation of lamp posts has
already commenced, Kandy Deputy Mayor Suminda Wickramasinghe said.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 3.9 million and the support
of the business community is sought to complete it, he said. Rs. 2.7
million has already been channelled from the decentralised budget of the
Kandy Municipal and Urban Councils, the Deputy Mayor added. |
