Air attack on Tiger bunker line in Mannar

Air Force gunship MI-24s carried out a fresh air attack targeting the
LTTE bunker line in Andankulam, Mannar yesterday morning, Air Force
spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said.
"The air raid was conducted to support ground troops engaged in an
offensive attack to liberate the Mannar front," Wing Commander
Nanayakkara told the Daily News.
The Air Force launched the air strike targeting the LTTE bunker line
around 8.30 a.m. in Andankulam. "The target was located 1.5 km ahead of
Security Forces' FDL's in Andankulam," he added.
The Air Force successfully carried out the air raid causing damage to
Tiger cadres. "The air raid was launched following ground intelligence
information and air surveillance." |
