100 Lankan workers under 'house arrest' in Saudi

The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau yesterday
said they had taken measures to assist over 100 beleaguered migrant
workers in Saudi Arabia, who claim that they are under virtual house
arrest and held against their will, since their contract of
employment lapsed six months ago.

New power sets from China
Fifteen new power sets will be imported from
China in May to augment the present train services. The power sets
will cost Rs.5250 million. A spokesman from the Transport Ministry
told the Daily News that each power set will comprise six coaches
with engine costing Rs.350 million.
