Maldivian President here today
COLOMBO: Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and his wife
Nasrina Gayoom will arrive here today on a two day official visit on
President Mahinda Rajapaksa's invitation.

They will be accompanied by a high level Maldivian Government
delegation including Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid.
A Presidential Media unit release said the Maldivian President's
visit is in response to an invitation by President Rajapaksa when he
toured the Maldives in February 2006 after assuming office.
The Maldivian President and his entourage will be offered a red
carpet welcome with State honours on arrival at the Bandaranaike
International Airport on a special flight at 1 p.m. today.
The first item on the visiting President's agenda will be talks with
President Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat at 4 p.m. today.
This will be followed by the signing of several bilateral agreements
between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
President Rajapaksa will also confer the highest National Honour
Lanka Mithra Vibhushana on the Maldivian President as a symbol of the
longstanding high level diplomatic relations and friendship between the
two countries.
A State banquet will also be held in honour of the Maldivian
President and his delegation today.
Tomorrow, the Maldivian President is scheduled to hold separate talks
with Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka, Foreign Minister Rohitha
Bogollagama and Minister A.H.M. Fowzie. |
