SL aiming at $4.1 bn apparel target in ‘13’
As Sri Lanka draws near ‘Y2015 apparel target’
while battling defiant international markets, it also is closing in
on its $4 billion(bn) resolute apparel exports goal. Also, Sri Lanka
is to link its SME apparel sector shipments to the global ASYCUDA
e-system by next month. “We are steadily approaching the 2015 target
of $ 4 bn apparel exports, set by the Mahinda Chinthana and to this
end, already achieved $ 3.8 bn exports in 2012. And this year we are
aiming at an apparel exports revenue of $4.1 bn,” said Rishad
Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Sri Lanka on April
9 .

SL Inflation to remain single digit - ADB
ADB’s flagship annual economic publication Asian
Development Outlook 2013 (ADO 2013), says Sri Lanka’s economic
growth is expected to recover gradually to 6.8% in 2013 and to 7.2%
in 2014. Sri Lanka’s performance in 2012 reflected a strong showing
in industry, which grew by 10.3%, driven by a doubling of growth in
construction.
