MAC Holdings the GSA for Tiger Air and many other airlines have
forwarded business proposals for three new airlines, to fly to Sri
Lanka. The airlines that have been invited are Myanmar Air, Vietnam
Airlines and Delta Airlines of USA.
“We are looking at the possibility of Delta Air to have one of their
flights to stop over in Colombo from Mumbai,” said Chairman Managing
Director MAC Holdings (PVT.)Ltd, Andre Fernando.
Speaking at the launch to announce the company being appointed as the
Cargo agent of Delta Airlines for both Sri Lanka and the Maldives he
said that in addition they would also talk with Tiger Air, to explore
the possibility of having an additional frequency to touch down in both
at the new airport in Mattala and also in the Maldives where ‘Tiger’ is
not flying. “We are looking at using the concessions offered at Mattala.”
He said that a second international airport for the county was a welcome
move and they too would help to promote the airport as they treat it as
one of their responsibilities.
Delta Airlines, operates an extensive domestic and international
network serving all continents except Antarctica. Delta and its
subsidiaries operate over 5,000 flights every day and have approximately
80,000 employees.
Jaz Gill Regional Accounts Manger, Cargo Sales, EMEIA, Delta Airlines
Inc, said that Sri Lanka is a very exciting market for them and this was
the reason they decided appoint an active and dynamic agent. He said
that cargo out of Colombo is very strong and they also expect larger
volumes from Male as well. |
