'Legend of the Seas' anchors in SL

America's Royal Caribbean International (RCI), an Asian- based cruise
ship 'Legend of the Seas', anchored in Sri Lanka on transit. Hemas
Travels (Pvt) limited being the Sri Lankan arm of the Royal Caribbean
International features many facilities during its transit in Sri Lanka.
The ship, with a capacity of 867 feet by 105 feet, was anchored in
Colombo with over 1,700 tourists on board.
While this was the Legend's last voyage to Sri Lanka, 'Mariner of the
Seas' which is 1.5 times larger than the previous legend would be the
next cruise to anchor in Sri Lanka in June.
"The Legend of the Seas' the smallest cruise owned by the RCI has a
capacity to accommodate a total of 2,074 passengers onboard, with a crew
of 726 and a service ratio of approximately one crew per guest.
America's Royal Caribbean International employees a staff of over 40,000
globally," Account Executive, RCI Asia, Sim Kian Tiong said.
The cruise has an exclusive sports area, for games expanding from
table tennis to rock climbing. On board entertainment includes an
outdoor movie screen, vitality spa and fitness centre, a beauty salon,
two swimming pools, solarium and theatres.
"The cruise has a capacity of 915 state rooms out of which 587 gives
its guests the luxury of views, 356 of these rooms comes with balconies
and the rest of the rooms are on the interior of the ship.
We also have shopping area within the ship for the benefit of the
guests," he said.
Director, General Manager, Hemas Travels (Pvt) Ltd, Riza Ahamat, said
they are having discussions with RCI to make Sri Lanka one of their
destinations to ease the burden of travelling to Singapore via their
cruise.
