THERA’S MURDER:
Deputy Mayor in protective custody
The Moratuwa Urban Council Deputy Mayor, arrested
in connection with the alleged murder of the Chief Incumbent of
Sunanda Upananda Viharaya Ven Metighatenne Vimalawansa Thera, was
ordered to be kept in protective custody until February 14 by the
Moratuwa magistrate. Ven Metigahathenne Wimalavansa Thera was hacked
to death in the temple premises on Sunday.

Police warn of fraudsters
The Police Public Relations ( PPR ) Unit warned
the public to be vigilant about fraudsters who deceive people over
telephone and via SMS asking people to deposit money to receive a
prize of a raffle draw they have won.

Trap guns: two arrested
Two trap guns set for wild animals were detected
by the Police, in a chena in Bambarabedda, Hunnasgiriya on the Kandy
- Mahiyanganaya road. Ududumbara Police following a tip-off detected
the trap guns.
