A simple ceremony was held to mark the handing over of a sponsorship package to Niluka de Silva who will be representing Sri Lanka, participating in the women’s 800 and 1500 meters in the Asian Amateur Athletic Association meet to be held in Singapore. Niluka, a resident of Anuradapura, is a member of Nation Lanka’s Micro Finance and Savings Society, which comes under the organization’s “Dinawamu Lanka” Micro Finance program. Sri Lanka ‘A’ suffered their third consecutive defeat by seven wickets against South Afirca ‘A’ in the Tri-nations series match played at Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe yesterday. After winning the toss, Sri Lanka ‘A’ scored 245 for seven wickets in their 50 overs.
