Dhanushka routs Chehan

Dhanushka Abeygunawardena trounced Chehan Fernando ( 6/1, 6/0 ) in the boys under 16 singles final of the Super ‘A’ Grade round of the 97th Colombo Championships 2012 played at Sri Lanka Tennis Association Courts yesterday.

Joshua Jayaratne along with Krishanthan Rajendrasingham won the Boys under 14 Doubles final beating Viranka Fernando and Nabeel Sabri (6/3, 6/4).

In the semi finals of the mens doubles, T.Dineshkanthan and Rajeev Rajapaksa out pointed Sankha Athukorala partnered by Nishangan Nadaraja (6/2,7/6,(12), 6/4) while Heera Ashiq partnered by Tanveer Ashiq outsmarted Amresh Jayawickrama and M.A.Shaakir( 7/6,(6), 7/6,(4),6/3).The defeat of Jayawickrama and Shaakir was the major upset of the event.

The Girls under 16 singles semi finals were won by Thewuni Devaraja who defeated Kavindya De Silva(6/2,6/1) and Nethmi Waduge who beat Rukshana Abdeen(6/2,6/2).

Shalini De Silva and Amritha Muttiah became the winners of the women'sdoubles semi finals beating Fathoum Issadeen and Dhanya Madugalle (6/2,6/1).

Mens Doubles Semi Finals :

T.Dineshkanthan with Rajeev Rajapakse beat Sankha Athukorala and Nishangan Nadaraja (6/2,7/6(12),6/4).
