More bidders for Mannar basin

After natural gas discovery :

The discovery of natural gas will bring along many economic and social benefits to Sri Lanka where high calibre bidders could be attracted for the remaining five blocks. The discovery through the first block drilling is a positive sign for future bidders, Petroleum Industries Minister Susil Premjayantha told Daily News Business.

CRIB takes credit reporting to new realm

The Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka brought the stakeholders of the banking and finance industry together in a landmark event seeking to build a better credit regime in the country with special emphasis on accurate credit reporting. The symposium held at Hilton Hotel and included credit specialists from the region who shared the experience of their own countries in building a better bridge with lending institutions and borrowers.

Laugfs Group profit soars

The financial performance of Laugfs Gas PLC for the period under review is very impressive and the physical growth achieved in terms of sales is phenomenal. Laugfs Group has earned a profit before tax of Rs 1.0 billion for the financial year ended March 31, 2011 and it was a significant growth of 79% compared to the previous year?s operational results. The profit after tax (PAT) for the same period ended March 31, 2011 for the Group was Rs 852 million and this is an increase of 61% over the previous year.
