France looking at Lanka’s construction, energy sectors

Sri Lanka invites top level French business and industry delegations to the mega export exhibition “Sri Lanka Expo 2012”. Sri Lanka also welcomes French investors to partner in our economic upswing, Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen said.

The Minister said this when he met French Ambassador Sri Lanka Christine Robichon and the Maldives and Economic and Commercial Counsellor Jean Louis yesterday.

“I invite French business and industry delegations to the mega export exhibition Sri Lanka EXPO 2012, organized by the EDB to be held from March 28 to 30, 2012 in Colombo,” Minister Bathiudeen told the Ambassador. “I believe that this will be an important step in strengthening our bilateral trade relations,” he said.

Among potential Sri Lankan exports to France as identified by the Department of Commerce are garments (woven and knitted), rubber based products, wooden toys and games, leather based products (footwear, bags etc.), gem and jewellery items, tea, ceramic products, essential oils, spices, coconut fiber based products, and handicraft ornamental items and packaging items.
