Development Competition:
Finals to take centre stage
Boot camp held to train 2011 finalists of the Inter-University
Enterprise Mobility Software Development Competition

Sri Lanka Association of Software of Services Companies (SLASSCOM)
and Motorola Solutions will organize the Inter-University Enterprise
Mobility Software Development Competition finals on October 6 at Prof.
V. K. Samaranayake Auditorium of University of Colombo School of
Computing (UCSC) with the participation of chief guest Information
Technology and Telecom Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya and U.S.
Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Patricia A. Butenis as the
guest of honour for the opening ceremony.
Sixteen undergraduate teams from 12 Universities and University
Affiliation colleges of Sri Lanka consisting Universities of Peradeniya,
Ruhuna, Kelaniya, Jaffna, Colombo, Uva Wellassa, Rajarata, OUSL, NIBM,
APIIT, SLIIT and IIT will demonstrate the Enterprise level Mobile
Applications developed during last five months. Shortlisted 16 solutions
were selected out of the 49 initial entries by a panel of experts. All
applications address the needs of different industry verticals such as
healthcare, plantation, tourism, retail, warehouse management,
transportation and public organizations such as railways, postal, energy
and utilities.
Motorola Solutions Director and Country Manager for Sri Lanka
Anuradha Tennakoon said, “It is evident by these applications that our
undergraduates are capable of developing world class solutions with
proper guidance and coaching. These young people are the future of our
IT industry and they will drive Sri Lanka to a very strong position of
world’s IT landscape.”
The day’s event comprising student stalls and live demo areas will
lead up to the awards ceremony with the participation of Higher
Education Ministry Secretary Dr. Sunil J Navaratne and Bank of Ceylon
Chairman Dr. Gamini Wickramasinghe. |
