Commonwealth Games Logo unveiled : The Hambanthota 2018 Commonwealth Games Logo was officially unveiled by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in its maiden venture to host the upcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games in Sri Lanka at Temple Trees yesterday. The Logo features eight pairs of hands, with each held together with fingers pointing outwards, in the colours of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF). Typically referred to as the Anjila Mudra, the hand gesture is commonly used across the Asian region as a sign of welcome and warmth. It recognizes with the theme of the bid which is ‘Together. Former Sri Lanka Cricket and Asian Cricket Council President, Former ICC Director and Parliamentarian Thilanga Sumathipala in a letter to the International Cricket Council president Sharad Pawar has requested that the ICC reconsider the Eden Gardens Stadium as a world cup venue.
