CPRFU AGM on February 3

The Annual General Meeting of the Cental Province Rugby Football
Union (CPRFU) will be held at the Old Trinitians Sports Club on February
3 (Thursday) at 5 pm.
The incumbent President is former Trinity College ruggerite Mohan
Samarakoon who later represented many planters clubs and was also a
national selector and has done good job despite the constraints of
funds. Two major achievements was the conducting of a rugby development
program in conjunction with the Kandy District Sports Development
Foundation and a rugby tournament for the ‘B’ Division clubs.
Iswan Omar who was elected Secretary had to give up midway following
his departure from Kandy due to employment reasons.
This post was filled by former Trinity and Sri Lanka ruggerite Gamini
Udugama who did a grand job with former All Ceylon ruggerites Maurice
Perera and Viper Gunaratne in the development programs.
Maurice Perera it must be recalled has over 55 years experience in
rugby having represented Trinity College in 1953 and All Ceylon Kandy
Sports Club and up Country in 1954 and for a number of years thereafter.
He was also a national rugby selector. All these officials are
expected to be re-elected.
Having a team like this, the CPRFU should serve rugby well. |
