Kandy Youths make it three in a row

Kandy Youths Cricket Club registered their third successive win for the season when they beat Nugegoda Sports Club by an innings and 10 runs in their P Sara Trophy Cricket tournament match concluded at Katubedda Campus grounds on Sunday.

Kandy Youths win was fashioned by two fine performances by old Rajans and former Kandy CC cricketer Muditha Wijekoon and Old Antonian Prasad Ranawaka.

Muditha Wijekoon opening the batting smashed a fine 110 which had 2 sixes and 10 fours off 130 balls and he put on 108 for the third wicket and with Antonian Schoolboy night watch man Arvinda Premaratne who made 46 with 3 fours.

Prasad Ranawaka bowling his off spinners to a tidy length took 4 for 30 and followed up with 5 for 45 to end up with match figures.

Kandy Youths CC have now scored wins over Negombo CC, Kurunegala Youths CC and Nugegoda CC in this year’s tournament.

The team is managed and coached by former Antonian and Kandy Youths cricketer Anton Perera and Prasad Ranawaka.

Nugegoda SC 147 all out and 110 all out in 40.2 overs (Prameeth Harshana 24, A Liyanage 34, Prasad Ranawaka 5 for 45, Chandima Abeykoon 3 for 27, Kasun Ekanayake 2 for 33)

Kandy Youths SC 278 for 7 declared in 51.4 overs (Chamila Ambagaspitiya 24, Muditha Wijekoon 110, Arvinda Premaratne 46, Nadun Basnayake 25, Kasun Ekanayake 45, Praneeth Harshana 3 for 28, Rumesh Jayasekera 2 for 58)
