Ports to increase GDP growth
Shipping industry to contributes 40 percent:
The shipping industry will be geared to
contribute 40 percent of the GDP from port and port related
industries with the completion of port development projects
islandwide. The Colombo Port expects to handle 10 million total
equivalent units (TEUs) by 2020 recording more than twofold growth
from this year. It has the capacity to reach four million TEUs by
end of this year, Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dr Priyath
Wickrama said.

industry in developing different sectors to contribute to the
overall growth, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Chairman Dr. Anura
