The Export Development Board (EDB) settled a total of Rs 40 million
to ten exporters qualified to receive assistance under the Dahas Diriya
scheme.
EDB Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said 44 companies were qualified to
receive financial assistance amounting to Rs 183 million according to
their project reports.
Dahas Diriya Scheme was introduced by the Government in 2005, to
encourage exporters for their productive contribution.
Most of these companies have utilized this money to improve the
technology by importing machinery and equipment leading to add value to
their products.
Accordingly, Rs 143 million was paid to 34 exporters during the last
few years.
The balance Rs 40 million entitled to a few exporters remained
delayed due to various financial constraints. However, the matter was
settled at the EDB on Friday. |
