Simultaneous economic crisis, financial melt down:

No country will show higher growth in 2009 - NDB CEO

The world is facing an unprecedented economic and financial crisis and there won’t to be a single country which will show growth rates in 2009 higher than 2008, said CEO, National Development Bank Eran Wickramaratne making a presentation on the Global Crisis and its effects on Sri Lanka for the Association of Retired Flag Rank Officers at Narahenpita.

Micro-financing boosts lending portfolio of LB Finance

The recent increase in gas prices were subjected to arguments by various political parties. However, domestic gas prices are decided on by the pricing formula. Minister of Consumer Affairs Bandula Gunawardena told a media briefing yesterday that if the majority of people like to move away from the pricing formula it could be done with the approval of the Consumer Affairs Authority and then gas companies will decide on the price increase.
