To initiate this exercise, a short promotional film, Meet Negombo,
which depicts the area as a city of much activity has been developed, to
be distributed during all local and overseas promotional activities
including country promotions and road shows.
Negombo provides the ideal get-away for the busy traveller who can
within minutes of arriving in Sri Lanka, be in the relaxing atmosphere
of the sun, sea, and sand experience. Moreover, its charm lends itself
as a hotspot for MICE activities, creating an ideal business with
leisure experience, with almost no travel time.
Situated just six km away from the airport, many star-class luxury
hotels including ayurvedic spas to yoga to aerobics and games as well as
excursions on bicycle, horse back or by boat are on offer in Negombo.
Muthurajawela, which borders the city, is a renowned natural habitat
with much diversity, including many species of birds and plant life.
A snippet of history, in terms of the ruins of the old Dutch fort and
the Dutch canal giving an insight into ancient times are also special
attractions. Furthermore, for the slightly more adventurous, the day to
day life of the fisherfolk also provides an interesting diversion.
