EU Sri Lanka Business Summit begins today

The EU Sri Lanka Business Summit will commence today at the BMICH.

The EU Sri Lanka Business Summit, the first ever initiative of its kind to take place in Sri Lanka is a combined effort in restoring economic sustainability.

The key theme of the summit will be "A concerted effort towards rebuilding a nation and unleashing Sri Lanka's potential". The summit endeavours to bring individuals from all spheres - the Government, the International donor community, with added focus on the European community and the Sri Lankan private sector in sharing knowledge and ascertaining the road ahead.

It will further strive to increase Private sector awareness on the potential commercial, trade and investment opportunities that would be inevitable with the end of the war.

In keeping with the Governments' broad economic policy the summit will mainly focus on steering investment to disadvantaged areas such as the North and Eastern Province.
