2,000 more CTB buses by year end

The Transport Ministry has decided to deploy 2,000 more buses on road by the end of the year to strengthen the State bus sector. Transport Minister Felix Perera said the decision was taken after President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga allocated Rs. 150 million for repairing unroadworthy buses attached to the Central Transport Board (CTB).

I love children, they are our treasure - President

I love children. The world must be made fit for them to live in for they are our treasure and our future lies in them, said President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. Addressing the national ceremony to mark Universal Children's Day at the BMICH yesterday, she reiterated her Government's commitment towards creating a world fit for children to live in as pledged by her at the United Nations special session on children in 2002 on behalf of Sri Lanka.
