Colombo (Lankapuvath) - Sri Lankan sailors have been given an opportunity to serve in Norwegian ships. It has been decided to sign a memorandum of understanding between the two countries towards this end, a senior official of the Ministry of Ports said. Necessary arrangements have been made for this purpose by the Mercantile Shipping Directors office affiliated to the Ministry of Ports and Aviation under the directions of Minister Mangala Samaraweera. Candidates who passed in written and practical tests conducted by the Mercantile Shipping Director's Office are to be issued with relevant certificates for various posts in the shipping sector. A senior official of the Ministry of Ports said that the Sri Lankan Ambassador In Norway, A. A. Javaad is making the necessary arrangements regarding the memorandum of understanding by the two countries next November. |
