Stock market inflows positive - Cabraal
“Stock market inflows so far this year have been
positive and on target while net outflows mounted to US $ 172
million in 2011,” said Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal
updating the media on Sri Lanka External Sector Developments at the
Central Bank Auditorium yesterday. He said Sri Lanka's economy
recorded a highly successful year, with the help of external sector
stability in 2011 despite global turmoil. Indicating growing
positive investor sentiment, cumulative net inflows in 2012, up to
May 2, amounted to US $ 172 million, compared to the annual target
of US $ 500 million.

Asia Leisure partners with Teoria Investments, Japan
Asia Leisure, a fully owned subsidiary of the
Asia Capital Group entered into a strategic partnership with Teoria
Investments of Japan to further expand the country’s booming tourism
sector. The partnership will enabled Teoria Invetments to make an
initial investment of approximately US $ 2 million to Taprobana,
Asia Leisure’s property in Balapitiya which is currently under
construction.

Alex Lovell appointed Union Bank Chairman
Union Bank of Colombo PLC (UBC) has appointed
Alexis Indrajit Lovell as the new Chairman and Asoka de Silva as
Deputy Chairman of UBC with effect from May 1, consequent to Ajita
de Zoysa former Chairman relinquishing his services after a period
of 9 years keeping in line with the requirements of the Corporate
Governance Direction of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
