Sangha from 30 countries gather
in Colombo
A blessings
ceremony by a world Sangha
congregation for global peace to
mark the 2600th anniversary of the
Buddha’s Enlightenment, began at the
Nelum Pokuna(Lotus Pond) theatre in
Colombo yesterday under the
patronage of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa. Over 500 members of Maha
Sangha from 30 countries joined over
1,000 members of Maha Sangha from
Sri Lanka at the inuagural ceremony
yesterday.

Investors invited to manufacture
drugs locally
Health Minister
Maithripala Sirisena invites local
investors to start drug
manufacturing factories in Sri
Lanka. The government has already
taken steps to facilitate local drug
manufacturers in every possible way,
a Health Ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the
Cabinet Ministers’ Sub Committee
appointed to look into the issue of
drugs had recommended that drugs
required for Sri Lanka should be
locally produced to avoid drug
shortages.

Investors given ultimatum

Pasikudah Tourism Zone will be taken
over by the government, if they fail
to complete construction by December
