SLC Premier League here in August
Top international cricketers will be seen in
action:
The long awaited Sri Lanka Cricket’s Premier
League tournament will finally be called play on August 10 and the
cricketing carnival will end on August 31 with the finals. Sri Lanka
Cricket and Somerset Ventures Entertainment signed a contract
recently and the tournament will be played on similar lines to the
Indian Premier League that is now in progress in India.

Samuels arrival bolsters Windies
Marlon Samuels joined up with the West Indies
squad in England on Tuesday as the tourists moved close to having
their full strength party available for selection. Samuels linked up
with his international team-mates following a stint in the Indian
Premier League and the West Indies hope Guyanese duo Assad Fudadin
and Narsingh Deonarine, who have been awaiting their visas in
Jamaica, will be arriving shortly.

Matale Thomians in 24-5 win over Annites
St. Thomas College, Matale scored their first
win for the season when they beat St. Anne's College, Kurunegala by
24 points (three goals, one penalty) to 5 (one try) in their schools
Under 19 Division One Segment C rugby tournament match played at
Trinity College Rugby Stadium at Pallekele yesterday. At half time
the Matale Thomians led 14-5.

Kandy YCC in 10-run win
A good all-round performance by Azar Central
College Schoolboy Mohamed Manazir who scored (3 sixes, 4 fours) and
also took 4 for 53 guided Kandy Youths Cricket Club to an exciting
10-run win over Kandy Clouds Cricket Club in their Sri Lanka
cricket's Division Three Cricket Tournament match played at
Galagedera on Monday.
