SLIIT Professional Development Programmes gear students for exciting career paths in IT

SLIIT is a leader in the education sector which provides focused academic pathways to students through the institute's Professional Development Programmes, enabling students to develop and reach their full potential within a highly competitive business arena.

Possessing strong links with the IT industry both in Sri Lanka and abroad, SLIIT has secured industry certified partnerships to include IBM, CISCO, Microsoft, EXETEL, Virtusa and IFS, to name a few.

These collaborative efforts with leading companies ensure that SLIIT students have access to an extensive source of knowledge and the ability to establish valuable industry links through a diverse range of programmes at the institute.

SLIIT's Professional Development Programmes are conducted for students ranging from those following O/L's to IT professionals, and are available in the following focus areas; Networking and Systems Administration, Programming, Web Development - General and Advanced, and Graphic Designing.

SLIIT is the first CISCO Regional Networking Academy and also the first Microsoft IT Academy in Sri Lanka. Under these two academies, SLIIT provides a wide variety of Internationally verified programmes such as CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CCNA Security and Microsoft IT Academy Programmes (MCTIP – Enterprise Administrator & MCPD – Enterprise Application Development).

SLIIT serves the nation as the only Instructor Training Center for CISCO Instructors in Sri Lanka by providing services to train students through the CISCO Academy and develops programmes for the government, private companies and relevant industries.

The other industry certified Professional Development Programmes offered at SLIIT include Advanced Linux Administration, Web Development, Knowledge Worker Certificate, Software Quality Assurance Programme, and the Certificate Programme in IT Applications, to name a few.

SLIIT is an authorized centre of Prometric and Pearson VUE testing centres, providing electronic testing solutions especially for all the major International Certification Examinations such as Microsoft and CISCO Certifications.

SLIIT recently garnered a Recognition Award for its active participation in the CISCO Networking Academy programme for the last decade at the CISCO Networking Academy conference held in Malaysia in April 2012.

In addition, CISCO recognized two of SLIIT's Instructors Mohan Liyanage and Uditha Gamage as the only two Sri Lankan instructors who are qualified to deliver CISCO Instructor Training at local and APAC level at the same event.

“The institute has already expanded the Professional Development Programmes to Matara and Kandy centers and this year we aim to expand the Professional Development Programmes to SLIIT's Jaffna centre in order to give students in these regions a chance to benefit through such programmes” said Uditha Gamage - Manager, Professional Development Programmes.

“This year we have added a few industry-specific programmes to our portfolio, such as Advanced Digital Animation and Special Effects, and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM),” Gamage said.
