ICC fighting ‘war’ against corruption
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is
fighting a “war” against corruption which even includes educating
groundsmen as well as players and officials, its chief executive
said Wednesday. “It is a war we are fighting,” David Richardson said
at the launch in London of the final ICC Champions Trophy, which
will be held in England next summer before the Ashes series.

Peterites clinch Cup Championship
St. Peter’s College won the Cup Championship of
the WPRFU Inter-Schools under-16 15-a-side rugby tournament
organized by Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) when they
edged out Mahanama College Colombo three points (a penalty) to nil
in the final played at Havelock Park yesterday after trailing by 3
points to nil at halftime.

CEAT-SLARDAR 1000 Rally will be a treat to watch
Twenty eight competitors will make every effort
to be crowned as Sri Lanka’s Rally King at this year’s CEAT- SLARDAR
1000 Rally which will cover approximately 1000 kilometres from
October 26 to 28. The rally is being held after a lapse of a long
four years and it was initiated in 1987.

Carlton Cup Cager Tourney from Oct.19
The Carlton Cup Basketball Championship 2012,
Sri Lanka’s biggest annual inter-club cager tournament will stage
its fourth edition from October 19 and will continue till November
24 at two venues in Colombo- Police Park and the renovated Henry
Pedris courts.
