St.Eugene’s basketball from October 26 to 28

The fourth edition of the St.Eugene’sTrophy Basketball Tournament
will take place from October 26 to 28 at Police Basketball Courts,
Police Park, Colombo.
This time, the tournament will feature 20 men’s teams - ten women’s
teams and ten school teams and will be continued for three days.

A cash prize of Rs 200,000 is on offer for this year’s winners. The
20 men’s teams will be drawn into four different groups and at the end
of the group stage, they will compete in Cup. Plate and Bowl
Championships according to their placings secured in the group stage.
Like in the previous years, only ‘B’ Division players will be allowed
to take part, while the women’s championship will be open.
The ten women’s teams will also be pooled and while the top ranked
teams will qualify to play in the Cup Championship, the next two teams
will play in the Plate Championship with the last placed team being
knocked out of the competition. The schools tournament will be an under
16 competition for boys born on or after 01.01.1997 and will be played
for Cup and Plate Championships.
The finals of the the tour nament are scheduled to be held on October
28 at 6.00 pm under the patronage of Rt.Rev Dr.Raymond Wickramasinghe,
the Bishop of Galle as the chief guest.
