New Navy Commander
Rear Admiral Jayanath Colombage is the current
commander of the Eastern Naval Command and would be promoted to the
rank of Vice Admiral. He would assume duties as the new Navy
Commander tomorrow, September 27 at the Sri Lanka Navy Head
Quarters.

Sri Lankan and foreign troops join ‘Cormorant Strike III’
The multi-national Army-organised Exercise
‘Cormorant Strike III’, the 16 day joint exercise conducted on an
amphibious setting in the Eastern region, drew to a close on Sunday.
Nearly 2,000 tri-service personnel of Sri Lankan Armed Forces and 40
foreign military representatives from China, Pakistan, Bangladesh,
the Maldives and India (observers) took part in the event that began
on Monday.

Suspect wanted for nine crimes arrested
Police arrested a suspect wanted in connection
with nine crimes including robbing jewellery and money on Friday.
The suspect is a resident of Panadura, Alubomulla. Police said the
suspect had been involved in a series of robberies in Panadura,
Bandaragama and Piliyandala.
