Chain snatcher remanded

Batticaloa Police on Sunday arrested a suspect wanted in connection with four chain snatching incidents and thefts carried out at several locations in Batticaloa. He was arrested by the Police for his suspicious behaviour.

On being interrogated, it was revealed that he had snatched three gold chains worth over Rs 250,000 since May and had also stolen cash and jewellery by breaking into a house in April.

Police recovered a part of the stolen valuables. The suspect, a resident of Chenkaladi was remanded till October 1 when produced at the Baticaloa Magistrate's Court.
