Heroin, 130 mobile phones seized

The Police Special Task Force seized five grams of heroin and 130 mobile phones in the possession of the inmates at the Colombo remand prison.

A group of STF personnel led by ASP Sylvester Wijesinghe seized the productions from the possession of the inmates during a search operation conducted on Monday evening. Out of the mobile phones seized, seven were not in a usable condition while there were eight dual SIM phones.

The STF said there were 53 extra SIM cards in their possession and 43 extra mobile phone batteries.

The STF also seized 38 mobile phone chargers, 10 memory chips and 37 hand frees in their possession.

The heroin was handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau while the other items were handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division for further investigation.
