New sports hostel opened in Colombo : Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage yesterday declared the opening of the newly built Sports Hostel in Colombo yesterday. The hostel was built with a total investment of Rs.244 million. The hostel is located at the Foundation Avenue in Colombo 07 and offers accommodation facilities to 140 sportsmen and sportswomen while it also offers accommodation facilities to 20 sports officials, the Sports Ministry said. The also hostel includes a fully equipped indoor stadium. Sports Ministry Secretary Udaya R Seneviratne, Sports Development Director General Ranjani Jayakody, National Institute of Sports Medicine Director General Prof. Arjuna De Silva, Olympic medalist Susanthika Jayasinghe and other sports officials were present at the occasion.
