Wesley in 48-6 win over Lumbini

Wesley College trounced Lumbini MV (four goals, four tries) by 48 points to six (two penalties) in their Singer Schools Segment One ‘B’ Division rugby match played at Air Force Grounds, Ratmalana yesterday.

Wesley College opened their account with a fine try by No 8 Kokila Sammandapperuma which was later converted by Rahul de Silva. Again Rahul de Silva made his second conversion for the try scored by Viraj Nisansala. Lahiru Madusanka also contributed with a try. Captain Kokila Sammandapperuma added extra points with a try converted by Rahul de Silva. Kokila scored his third try a short while before the short whistle but Rahul de Silva failed to convert. Lumbini College did not succeed in scoring. How ever, they were able to score three points, thanks to a penalty by Lahiru Priyankara in the first half. The scores read 31-3 in the first half.

In the second half, Viraj Nisansala scored a try converted by Rahul de Silva. Kokila Sammandapperuma scored two unconverted tries and helped to lift their second half score to 17 points.

Lumbini MV had to be satisfied with a penalty scored by Lahiru Priyankara. The scores were 17 – 3 at the breather.
