Starco Lanka in US $ 4.4 m tyre venture

Starco Lanka (Pvt) Ltd has signed an agreement with the Board of Investment to manufacture pneumatic and solid tyres for export. The total investment for the project is US$ 4.4 million and the company has pledged to create 400 employment opportunities during the next three years.

Ceylon Chamber fetes Best Corporate Citizen

The annual Best Corporate Citizen Award ceremony organized by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce took place at the Cinnamon Grand last Friday. Nestle Lanka PLC bagged the Best Corporate Citizen Award 2011. MAS Intimates (Pvt.) Ltd. won the first runner-up and Hatton National Bank became the second runner-up.

Scan Engineering to invest US $ 2 m on expansion

Scan Engineering (Pvt) Ltd is set to invest US $ 2 million for the expansion of its office and service facilities in 2012. Scan Engineering and Scan Agencies Managing Director Keerthi Abeynayake said the company is hoping to complete the expansion by mid 2012 and will create job opportunities for around 150 engineers and technicians in various fields.
