Pakistan win Test series

Third Test drawn:

Pakistan clinched the three-Test series against Sri Lanka 1-0 after the third and final Test ended in a draw at Sharjah stadium here on Monday. Persistent rain wiped out play in the pre-lunch session a two hours and 35 minutes delay which left Sri Lanka with little time to enforce a win despite declaring their second innings at 181-6, setting Pakistan a target of 255 in a possible 61 overs.

St. Joseph’s Girls unbeaten

St. Joseph’s Girls School, Nugegoda comfortably beat Good Shepherd Convent, Kotahena (81-26) at their home courts to climb to the top of group ‘A’ in the under-19 ‘A’ division girls’ basketball championship yesterday. They were unbeaten, having defeated all remaining five teams in group ‘A’.

Frazier fighting for life

Former world heavyweight champion Joe Frazier, who battled Muhammad Ali in a famed 1970s boxing trilogy, is fighting for his life with advanced liver cancer. Frazier, 67, was the first man to defeat the legendary Ali, taking the undisputed heavyweight title with a unanimous 15-round decision over Ali in 1971 at Madison Square Garden in what was dubbed the "Fight of the Century".
