Bio Extracts awarded SLS certificate

For the first time in Sri Lanka an SLS has been presented for Bee Honey and Virgin Coconut Oil by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) to the Baraka brand of bee honey and virgin coconut oil products of Bio Extracts Pvt Ltd.

Bee Honey and Virgin Coconut Oil has been a part of Sri Lankan lives for many centuries. These products are gathered and sold in many parts of the country. With the increase in consumer demand for these products, it is imperative to ensure the right standards are in place to guide the consumers.

SLSI presented the SLS certificate to Bio Extracts Pvt Ltd., for their Baraka brand bee honey and virgin coconut oil. This is the first time a certificate has been awarded for bee honey and virgin coconut oil in the country.

SLSI is also very pleased that Bio Extracts a responsible company has identified the importance of these products.

Company sources said that Bio Extracts Pvt Ltd has always endeavored to ensure high quality for their consumers and have continuously upgraded their standards through adapting the ISO certifications.

They market their products under the Baraka branding to the local market which is a popular healthcare remedy. Bio Extracts is a leading exporter of herbal healthcare products to many countries around the world and have won many business accolades.

Bee honey is a gift of nature having high nutritional properties and has been used for centuries as a natural medicine and also used as an ingredient for many delicacies.

Virgin coconut oil is the non-refined, non-bleached, non-deodorized oil retaining its 100% natural qualities. It is an excellent cooking oil for deep frying and research has declared its nutritious health giving properties.

Microsoft first Best Multinational Workplace

Sritrims at Fashion Access Hong Kong

The most happening Fashion exhibition of 2011 in the Far East, organized by APLF Ltd in Hong Kong the Fashion Access Hong Kong exhibition was held recently where Sritrims was the only Sri Lankan owned company that participated in the event.

Dialog Axiata opens Enterprise Discovery Centre in Colombo

Dialog Enterprise, the corporate business solutions arm of Dialog Axiata has opened a state-of-the-art demonstration and interaction centre named as Dialog Enterprise Discovery Centre which will be a conduit to showcase the latest enterprise services and solutions provided to corporate customers. Ceylinco Life opens second Kurunegala branch in own building

Ceylinco Life has opened a second branch in Kurunegala to enhance service facilities and better serve customers in and around the area.

Located on, Raja Pihilla Mawatha, Kurunegala, this is Ceylinco Life's 29th branch in a purpose-designed building owned by the company. It was built at a cost of Rs 50 million, the company said.

The new branch comprises 10,275 square feet of space on five levels. The lower ground floor of 2,016 square feet and the first and second floors comprising 4,162 square feet have been allocated for the offices, while the upper ground floor of 2,016 square feet is assigned to customer service. The third floor is a training room cum auditorium.

For the benefit of visitors and occupants, the office is fully air-conditioned and is equipped with a passenger lift and a standby generator. Among some of the other features of the building are a rain water harvesting system, net metering and solar panels, tube well, inverter air conditioner units and LED lights.

HDFC World Habitat Day awareness walk successful

To mark the World Habitat Day that fell on October 3, the HDFC organized an awareness walk from its head office in Colombo Fort to the Galle Face Green. As the World Habitat Day this year was celebrated upon the theme ‘Cities and climate change,’ the awareness walk held by the HDFC educated the public and all concerned citizens of the importance of carbon footprints and the changes in the climate due to various man-made and natural causes. Leaflets were distributed among the public to educate them on such matters.

PCL Solutions outperforms international companies

PCL Solutions won the Dealer of the Year 2010 award for its outstanding sales of medical waste incinerator, Mediburn, produced by Elastec American Marine. The international award was presented to PCL Solutions Healthcare Sales Manager Sampath Kularatne at an event in Illinois, USA. Being the sole agent in Sri Lanka, PCL Solutions secured the award by outperforming Mediburn agents from 16 other countries, some of which have much larger distribution channels. The award was presented to PCL Solutions when two of its employees were attending a training session with the principal company in the USA.

PCL Solutions General Manager Thushantha Karunanayake said, “It is commendable for a small country like Sri Lanka to surpass countries like Australia, Russia, Germany, South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, India and China for Mediburn sales.”

“In a span of two and a half years, we have been able to introduce the Mediburn mobile medical waste incinerator to several hospitals in Sri Lanka,” said PCL Solutions Healthcare Sales Manager Sampath Kularatne, “With this award, our achievement has been prominently recognized.

The Marriott International in Washington DC USA celebrated the Excellency award ceremony recently in the USA. The Marriott International is one of the largest hotel chains in the world.
