Magampura secures US$ 1 b investments

The first phase of the Ruhunu Magampura port project in Hambantota has been able to secure investments to the value of US $ one billion. Ports Authority Chairman (SLPA) Dr. Priyath Wickrama speaking at the Hambantota Investment Forum organised by the Hambantota District Chamber said they allowed an additional investor to be roped in to make this investment possible.

Online payment at Magampura

For the first time an online payment gateway will be made available at the Ruhunu Magampura Port in Hambantota. Port Authority Chairman (SLPA) Dr. Priyath Wicrama making a shocking disclosure said a person has to go to 13 various places within the Port before clearing cargo.

A record 321 investors from the United States, Europe and Asia have vied for the just concluded US $ 1 billion Sovereign Bond issue, oversubscribed by 7.28 times personifying the confidence of international investors on the growth prospects and vibrant performance of the Sri Lankan economy.
