Sri Lanka is rapidly developing after the war and there will be a
huge demand for construction items. Cement is the most widely used
construction material worldwide.
One of the leading Cement manufacturers Bharathi cement will soon
introduce their product line to the Sri Lankan market.
Bharathi Cement Marketing Director Ravinder Reddy said they will
introduce superior cement within the next few weeks at a fair price.
“Customers can enjoy the benefits of superior quality of cement”.
There will be huge competition in the Sri Lankan market and their
ambition is to be a leader in the market.
“We have obtained the SLS certification for our cement and we want to
have a good market share in Sri Lanka”, he said.
Initially they will be importing cement bags from India and
distributing. “Our target is to market around 10,000 to 15,000 metric
tonnes per month initially,” he said.
Quality, delivery and service are the most important factor in cement
manufacturing and these factors are more important than the price, he
said.

Bharathi Cement is three times better than the other cement including
robotic quality control, German technology and tamper-proof packing.
“We are more concerned about the packaging system and high strength
polypropylene bags are used to pack cement. No damage can occur through
using it”, he said.
The Bharathi Cement plant is built in the Andra Pradesh and it has a
five million tonne capacity per year. This is one of the biggest cement
mills in the world.
“We have enough limestone in our country to manufacture cement for
over 100 years”, he said.
The Group continues expanding under President Jacques Merceron-Vicat
and is present in 11 countries, France, US, Turkey, Senegal,
Switzerland, Egypt, Italy, Mali, Kazakhstan, Mauretannia and India. Sri
Lanka is their 12th market.
The Vicat Group has 6,700 employees and generates sales of Euros 2
billion.
He said they have major expansion plans for Sri Lanka and under the
second phase of their operations they plan do packaging in Sri Lanka. |
