Sharmal Dissanayaka who played Yasas Dewage in a three setter in the quarter finals of the under 18 age group won the first set 6-2 lost the second 2-6 and made a strong come-back to win the third set 6 4. Sharmal will meet Vimuktha De Alwis while Amresh meets Irfan Inzam in the semi finals.

Sam tastes victory at last

Britain’s Sam Oldham- the 17-year-old triple junior champion finally had the sweet taste of victory on Sunday, the eighth day of the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore . He beat seven other competitors to take home the gold for the horizontal bar finals in artistic gymnastics, capping an eventful week which proved that coveted medal can sometimes prove ever so elusive.
