‘Pure Ceylon Tea’:
Rs 5 billion promotion
The Government will provide Rs 5 billion to promote ‘Pure
Ceylon Tea’ in the international market in the next five years. This
program will be implemented from November 1 this year. Each year Rs
1 billion will be provided for the project.

Pollution, environmental damage costs Rs 10,201 million
Unsustainable development takes toll:
The total cost of environmental damage from
various aspects in Sri Lanka stands at Rs 10,201 million which is
2.4 percent of the country’s Gross National Product. Speaking at the
inauguration of annual convention of Institute of Environmental
Professionals, (IEPSL) Power and Energy Minister Patali Champika
Ranawake said the damage caused by urban and industrial pollution,
water pollution and waste disposal stood at Rs 2,865 million. The
forest and land degradation and coastal damage has been estimated as
Rs 5,518 million.

Dutch Bay Resort to begin work
US $ 2 billion hotel in Kalpitiya:
The Dutch Bay Resort in Kalpitiya will start
their groundwork construction this month. A Water Sport project will
commence construction immediately, Kalpitiya Integrated Tourism
Resort Project, Additional Project Director Tissa Sooriyagoda told
Daily News Business.
