Arrested for infanticide
Katunayake Police arrested a woman who had
allegedly thrown her new born infant into the Kovinna river at
Katunayake on Thursday morning. The Police found the body of the
infant on August 20 floating in the river.

Armed gang arrested
Gampaha Police nabbed a-five-youth gang at
Gampaha in a search operation, Police sources said. The gang from
Gampaha, Kegalle, Tissamaharamaya and Panamure were armed with a
locally made gun. A three-wheeler and a motorcycle were also
recovered.
