Former Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva’s
statement on the arrest of General Sarath Fonseka is contrary to law
and has given an extra motivation to certain international forces to
interfere with the internal matters, threatening the sovereignty of
the country, senior counsel Gomin Dayasri said.

Paddy harvest to top 4 million MT this year
A paddy harvest of 2.6 million metric tons is
expected from the current Maha season harvest. The total paddy
output of the year is expected to be 4 million metric tons. Unlike
previous years, there is no maximum limit on paddy purchased from
farmers.
