Instructions needed from IGP

The Supreme Court directed the State Counsel C. V. de Silva attached to the Attorney General's Department to obtain further instructions from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), on the matter of providing security for ex MPs yesterday.

The Bench comprised Justice Dr Shirani A Bandaranayake, Justice Nimal Gamini Amaratunga and Justice S. I. Imam.

This was a case filed by a former Opposition MP to increase the number of security personnel following the dissolution of the parliament.

The Supreme Court directed Attorney General to get further instructions from the IGP.

The case was re-fixed for March 19.

Thilak Marapana PC, Ronald Perera and Janaka Marapona Attorneys-at-law appeared for petitioners. (HHS)
