War heroes have won for us not only the Motherland but also National dignity, said Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa addressing a gathering of relatives of war heroes at the Regional Army Headquarters in Boossa, Galle on Tuesday.

First serving General in Commander capacity honoured

 

Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka, who was accorded a historic Guard of Honour yesterday morning at the Army Headquarters upon his return to the highest mantle of his military career as the first-ever serving General to continue as Commander of the Army after President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces promoted him and other two service chiefs to their next ranks.
