complexity, staffing and explosion of new data requirements are the
challenges of Information Technology in the current economic situation,
Director Solutions and Product Group Hitachi Data Systems, Vivek
Venogopal told the launch of the Financial Services Industry Summit at
the WTC Colombo on Tuesday. He was making a presentation on Winning in
the Downturn, Service oriented storage solutions.
He said that currently a large scale of resources are wasted in
companies because of low utilization of storage. It has been revealed

storage. Therefore, companies have to make tough decisions because it
gives the economic value to the services in the financial sector at the
end of the day.
Venogopal said that it is necessary to change the way companies look
at storage costs as $ per capacity is no longer meaningful.
