Financial management key for business

CIMA awarded Superbrand status:

Financial management is vital for both the public and private sector as it plays a key role in their institutions said, Chief Executive CIMA Charles Tilley.

Speaking to the 'Daily News Business' at the event in which CIMA was presented with a Super Brand award he said that the best example for good financial management is the production of the world's cheapest car in India. "This is a living example as a lot of financial planning went to it to plan this car," he said.

Tilley said that financial management also plays a vital role for governments, as it helps them to reduce costs and minimize waste.

He said that he was also pleased with the standard of Sri Lankan CIMA students and their English. "This is the reason for foreign companies to recruit them," he said. He however said that more universities are needed for the country.

"CIMA and I am particularly delighted to achieve Super Brand status in Sri Lanka. We think this is a worthwhile accolade and represents the enormous success that CIMA has in Sri Lanka since1965 which is a credit to all our current members and students who are progressing towards membership and also to those member s who have moved to other countries as well," he said.

Director Marketing Superbrand, . Sharmila Cassim said that this scheme was introduced to Sri Lanka two years ago to set bench markets for products and services and it's a globally renowned accreditation.

CIMA Sri Lanka President Aruna Fernando said that CIMA Sri Lanka has launched a new initiative focused on driving value for employees, the CIMA incorporate partner programme. "CIMA is still the most sought after business qualification in Sri Lanka," he said.

He also said 20 companies have recognized CIMA as their preferred qualification. CIMA also presented several awards based on Best performances and MAS intimates won the accolade for the best financial management award for CSR while Amba Research Limited won the award for the highly commended employer of the year.

Two CIMA students from Royal College and Vishaka Vidyalaya Charith Mendis and Tharani Gamage who excelled at GCE A/ L examinations were also presented with awards.
