The Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) yesterday re-joined forces with the Government, with its Leader swearing in as a Cabinet Minister and four other MPs as Deputy Mministers. Leader of the CWC Arumugam Thondaman took oaths as Youth Empowerment and Social Economic Development Minister before President Mahinda Rajapaksa, at Temple Trees yesterday. Here the four other MPs, Deputy Leader S. Sellasamy who was sworn in as Postal Deputy Minister, Muttu Sivalingam as Estate Infrastructure Deputy Minister, S. Sachiththanandan as Education Deputy Minister and S. Jegadeeswaran as the National Integration Deputy Minister with President Mahinda Rajapaksa .


Tiger bid to bring remote control planes foiled

The Navy yesterday detected a large haul of war like equipment including a remote controlled aircraft with 5.5 metre long fuselage having a wing span of three metres after detecting and destroying two LTTE boats heading towards Vedithalthivu in the early hours of yesterday.

Maharoof to vote against Milinda No Faith Motion

says more UNPers would follow suit:

Colombo District UNP Parliamentarian Mohammed Maharoof has threatened to vote against the Mangala-Sripathy sponsored No Confidence Motion against Minister Milinda Moragoda saying such a Motion was ill-advised and that there were other UNP MPs who would boycott the vote.
