Gamata Karmantha 300 to create 22,000 jobs - Minister

Welgama said that it is hoped to provide 22,000 jobs by 88 industries
under the “Gamata Karmantha Programme” approved by the Industrial
Development Ministry.
The Minister was participating at the licence-providing occasion to
initiate the relevant industries to the investors who came forward to
begin seven new industries held at the Ministry of Industrial
Development Auditorium.
The Government industries programme is being implemented very
satisfactorily. Approval has been obtained for 88 industries, work on 75
of the planned 88 industries has already begun. While 16 are already in
operation.
The “Gamata Karmantha 300” programme which was started to take
industries confined to Colombo and Gampaha to the rural areas; has
already given the green light for another seven industries.
This would result in another 1664 jobs with an investment of Rs. 480
million. The proposed factories would be established in Yatiyantota,
Dikwella, Kandy Ganga Ihala Koralaya, Kandy, Medanuwara, Ibbagamuwa,
Horana and Ampara.
Welgama said they plan to construct 19 factories in Kalutara, 10 in
Kandy, two in Matale, seven in Kurunegala, four in Hambantota, two in
Badulla, two in Monaragala, eight in Ratnapura, two to Kegalle, two in
Anuradhapura and four in Polonnaruwa. |
