President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is to set up a National
Think Tank to deliberate on and recommend urgent national policies and
plans of action to be taken in economy, education, health, law and order,
crime prevention, peace and other major issues.
The Provincial Council election for the North Western Province is to be
held before the end of April, the Elections Secretariat said yesterday.
We are ready to talk to any government that is elected at the
forthcoming general election in this country. We will not abandon the
peace talks at any cost. We wish that those who understand and accept the
aspirations of Tamil people become leaders of this country, said 'Colonel'

CP, LSSP tie-up with Freedom Alliance by Jayantha Sri Nissanka Sri Lanka's two oldest Marxist parties, the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP)
and the Communist Party will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) next
week with the Freedom Alliance to contest the forthcoming General
